A Journalist Filed A Complaint Against A Webpage “Aimed To Insult Muslim Women”

Unidentified persons put doctored photographs of woman on a webpage alongside unpleasant comments “aimed at demeaning Muslim women,” according to a complaint filed with the cyber cell of the south-east district police.

This comes six months after authorities in Delhi and Noida filed charges in connection with photographs of Muslim women posted on the Github app. In conjunction with that complaint, no arrests have been made.

Esha Pandey, DCP (south-east district), verified that a complaint had been received. “We’re looking into it,” she added, adding that “necessary legal action will be done.”

The woman, who works for an online news portal, demanded that a FIR be filed and an investigation be launched against an unidentified group of persons who are “trying to harass and humiliate Muslim women” on social media and the internet.

“This morning, I was surprised to see that a website/portal called “bullibai.github.io” (since gone) included a doctored picture of me in an inappropriate, unacceptable, and blatantly sexual context. The complaint added, “This requires immediate action because it is plainly intended to harass me and other similarly situated independent women and journalists.”

“I’ve attached screenshots of the stated tweet addressed to me, as well as screenshots of other tweets.” The term ‘Bulli bai’ appears to be derogatory, and the content of this website/portal (bullibai.github.io) appears to be clearly aimed at insulting Muslim women, as the derogatory term ‘Bulli’ is used exclusively for Muslim women, and the entire website appears to have been designed with the intent of embarrassing and insulting Muslim women,” she said.

According to cyber cell sources, some accounts linked to the objectionable posts were located and banned after the police complaint. Police are attempting to obtain additional information.
