Sherlyn said that she has endured a lot in the beginning of her career. She told that in the industry, a special term is used for casting couch. It sounds very simple but in reality it is a code which means a direct compromise.
According to Sherlyn, the code name used for casting couch is ‘dinner’. She told that in the beginning of his career a film maker had called him for dinner at midnight.
In the interview, Sherlyn said that “Initially, when I stepped into the film world, I was unknown to everyone.” Whenever I approached the producers for work, I thought they would see my talent. I used to go to them with my portfolio and he told me ‘Ok, let’s meet at dinner.’
Sherlyn further explained that then “I thought maybe this dinner meant what we have known since childhood.” So I used to ask when should I come for dinner, then he used to ask me to come at 11 or 12 at night. It was later discovered that the real meaning of those people was compromised by ‘dinner’. When this happened four to five times, I understood what ‘dinner’ really meant. ‘Dinner’ in the film industry means ‘come on baby’.
When Sherlyn understood the meaning of this, she thought that no longer had to have dinner. Sherlyn told that after this whenever I used to go to work and anyone used to talk to me with that code word, I used to say, ‘I don’t have dinner, my diet is going on. Call at breakfast or lunch. There was no answer on speaking like this.
