New Delhi. Preparations are afoot regarding 5G technology and efforts are being made to introduce 5G services in India at the earliest. Continued use of 5G is also ongoing. In the same sequence, Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson on Tuesday joined hands with chipmaker Qualcomm Technologies to display (Demonstrate) the first 5G video call in the country on millimeterwave (mmwave) at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) here. The demo was performed on the Snapdragon 850 mobile platform using the Snapdragon X50 5G modem-RF system and a smartphone with Ericsson’s 5G platform.
Nunzio Martillo, head of Ericsson South East Asia, Oceania & India, said, “Today is an important step in India’s journey towards 5G. Our long-term collaboration with 5G video calls and Qualcomm technology is evidence of how the real benefits of 5G can be achieved through partnerships and collaboration. “MillimeterWave (MMWave) is a 5G network commercial in North America and Japan And being launched in many advanced countries including Korea. Here 28 GHz and 39 GHz spectrum bands are being considered for starting 5G.
28 GHz spectrum was used to make 5G video calls at India Mobile Congress (IMC). As a part of the demo, Martillo made a video call to Qualcomm India Pvt Ltd Vice President Rajan Vagadia at the Ericsson booth on the IMC 2019 site.
