Smartphones, tablets and other gadgets are short of supply due to COVID-19

We are living in a digital world. Living without a smartphone or laptop is next to impossible, considering we have to stay connected with our family, friends and colleagues on mobiles and complete our office work on laptop.

But the current coronavirus pandemic is affecting the gadgets market badly. Due to less staff and social distancing rules, supply of products such as smartphones, tablets, laptops are hit adversely.

Brands like Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme are failing to meet the demand due to only 30% staff allowed to work in their various warehouses. Inadequate supply and distribution of products is failing to meet the growing demand of the users.

For imported products such as Apple’s iPad and Mac computers, and laptops of other brands, the entire supply-chain is affected, right from clearance at customs, warehouses to the distribution system.

Due to some workers infected with coronavirus, the Oppo plant in Greater Noida remains shut. Oppo manufactures for OnePlus, Realme and Oppo.

However, FMCG industry has been able to scale up its operations at 60-65% with 40-50% people in the plants. But still they are falling 40% shortage of the demand.
