Canon will soon announce the PowerShot PICK camera with AI technology, we reported earlier. The news has been confirmed as there is more information on the same. Canon’s official crowdfunding page reveals details about the experimental camera.
Canon PowerShot PICK camera can survey a scene, detecting faces, tracking them, and clicking a photo. Please note, the camera can recognise the ideal moment and then take a photo. The ideal moment is probably when everyone in the frame is smiling. “PowerShot PICK will capture natural and emotional facial expressions as a member of your family,” Cannon writes.
The credit of such features goes to AI technology specifically programmed to search for a subject, identify a human face and then click a photo in the right moment. This way, the upcoming PowerShot PICK automatically takes photos of you. If the number of people in the frame increases, the camera will instantly recognise them and adjust the view accordingly. Additionally, the PowerShot PICK can also respond to voice commands.
As for technical specifications, the camera packs a 1/2.3-inch 12-megapixel CMOS sensor. It comes with super flexibility as in pan, tilt, and zoom features. The PowerShot AI features 170 degrees of pan, 110 degrees of tilt, and 4x zoom. There is also a 19-57mm lens that can wide open at F2.8.
Canon PowerShot PICK is priced at 42,900 yen. The company dedicated 2,090 camera units for the crowdfunding campaign. Canon plans to ship the cameras by the end of July 2021.
