New Delhi: Vaccine manufacturer Bharat Biotech has announced that animal trials of its covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ have been successful. The company stated that the results have demonstrated the protective efficacy of the vaccine in the live viral challenge model.

According to a report, it has been said that the data obtained from the study of primates shows the immunity of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, drug regulator DCGI has asked the Serum Institute of India to suspend recruitment to trials of AstraZeneca’s ‘covid-19 vaccine’ in the country until further orders. India’s Drug Controller General VG Somani has also asked the experimental vaccine to increase safety surveillance of those already vaccinated.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the trial of 12 vaccines in human centers, including IMS and SUM Hospitals. This vaccine has been developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.
