India’s Covid cases tally crosses 88 lakh-mark

New Delhi: India clocked a fresh spike of 41,100 new COVID cases in the past 24 hours, that has pushed the country’s overall case count to 88,14,579, Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Active cases have further reduced by 1,503 since Saturday, and the nation currently houses 4,79,216 cases.

Total 447 fresh deaths were reported since Saturday, taking the overall COVID death toll to 1,29,635.

Meanwhile, 42,156 more people have battled the disease yesterday, taking the total recoveries till date to 82,05,728, the government data said.

In percentage, now the active cases stand at 5.44 per cent, discharged at 93.09 per cent and the deaths at 1.47 per cent of the total case count of the country till date.

According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), there have been 12,48,36,819 COVID tests done in total till date across the nation.
