New Delhi: As coronavirus cases rise again in India, the central government said that the second dose should be given between 4-8 weeks after the first dose of Covishield. Earlier this interval was 4-6 weeks. However, it has been said in the letter that giving second dose between 6 and 8 weeks is more effective. The second phase of the Corona vaccination campaign is going on in the country.

This letter has been written to the states following the suggestion of the National Technical Advisory Group and the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration. In the first 4-6 weeks, it was said to give second dose of Covishield. Now it has been done between 4-8 weeks. The central government has clarified that the second dose is to be given by the 8th week in any case. This instruction will only apply to Covishield.

According to the latest data released by the government, so far more than 4.36 crore people have been given the dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The government said that according to the interim data, 4,36,75,564 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been given till Saturday evening i.e. 20 March at 7 pm. According to statistics, these include 77,63,276 health workers. 48,51,260 has been administered in the second dose to the health workers.
