Centre bans oxygen supply for industrial purposes

New Delhi: The Center on Sunday restricted the supply of oxygen for industrial purpose except nine specific industries to supply oxygen to Covid-19 patients. This decision will come into effect from 22 April.

In a letter sent to all the states, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said that in view of the rapid increase in the cases of Covid-19 and the increasing demand for medical oxygen due to this, a high-powered committee constituted by the Central Government, supplied oxygen for industrial use. Has been reviewed so that the demand for medical oxygen in the country can be fulfilled and people’s lives can be saved. The Home Secretary said in the letter that the government has accepted the recommendations of the High Powered Committee.

Accordingly, the committee has stopped the supply of oxygen for industrial purpose by manufacturers and suppliers from April 22 until further orders. However, exemption has been given for 9 special industries. Ajay Bhalla said in the letter that I appeal to the Chief Secretaries of the states to issue instructions to the officials concerned in their state so that it can be followed.
