Corona vaccination slowed down further in India

New Delhi: Despite all efforts in India, the pace of corona vaccination is steadily slowing down. This week’s average of vaccination speed in India has been the lowest in two months. Almost all states are crying out for the shortage of the corona vaccine, but at the moment the situation does not appear to be normal. The states say that the central government did not order enough of the corona vaccine last year, due to which a crisis has arisen. The central government has asked the states to bear the cost of vaccination of people below 45 years of age.

The Health Ministry says that on May 19, only 11.66 lakh people received the Corona vaccine. The sluggishness in the vaccination campaign is worrisome as Corona gets close to 3 lakh cases every day. If we talk about this week’s average, 13.42 lakh people have got the vaccine on an average day, which is the lowest any week after March 14. From the middle of March, the second wave of corona in the country started picking up and the daily cases of Covid had crossed 4 lakhs.

India may be the largest hub of Corona vaccine production in the world, but so far it has only been able to fully immunize only 3 percent of the population. India is one of the few countries in the world where corona vaccination is not completely free for all. The Central Government has suddenly put the burden of vaccination of all the people below 45 years on the State Governments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly talking about intensifying vaccination.

The Central Government has been criticized for putting the burden of vaccination on the states. The government has stopped the export of vaccines to other countries in a hurry after criticism. This has also left countries in the lurch that were waiting for India. After criticism from opposition parties and international media, the central government had drawn a blueprint last week on how India will have 200 crore vaccines by the end of this year. There will be doses. However, many countries including India are struggling with the lack of vaccine.
