Patna: Admitting its mistake, the Health Department of Bihar today said that not 5424 but 9375 people have died due to corona in the state.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit, said in a press conference organized through video conferencing that the Health Department had given the death toll of 5424 people from Corona till June 8, which is not correct. The actual figure is 9375. In fact, a review of the cases of death due to corona in the state was done in which it was found that the death toll due to corona was not being sent from the districts.

Shri Amrit informed that on May 18, updated verified reports of death from Corona were sought from all the districts. All the districts were given ten days’ time for this but additional time was also given to them if asked for more time for this. A committee of Principal, Superintendent and Head of the Department of Medicine was formed at the Medical College Hospital level for verification of death cases from Corona, while a committee consisting of Civil Surgeon, Assistant Civil Surgeon and Medical Officer nominated by Civil Surgeon was constituted in the districts. . Both the committees have submitted their report to the department.
