First death from Delta+ variant in Maharashtra, 80-year-old died in Ratnagiri

Mumbai: Delta Plus variant is also spreading its feet in Maharashtra. There has been the first death due to this infection. An 80-year-old patient has died in Ratnagiri due to this variant. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that there were 21 patients of Delta Plus variant in Maharashtra, in which the number has now come down to 20 after the death of an elderly person from 80 years.

He told that the number of patients who have come till now of Delta Plus is only 21, so has there been replacement of virus? First there was delta then there was delta plus, has delta replaced it, so there is nothing like that. It does not have a significant number. We are under close scrutiny. We take 100 samples every month in 37 districts and we check his travel history, whether he has had re-infection and whether he has taken the vaccine. We are also getting help from the Center in this matter. Today, the 21 patients who are from Delta Plus, out of which 1 elderly person has died, who also had other diseases. There are still 20 patients out of which some patients have recovered and gone home. There is nothing to fear, we are working closely with the Center in this matter.
