Covaxin’s effectiveness on delta variant is 65.2 percent

New Delhi: Bharat Biotech has released the analysis data of Phase III of Covaxin. In which it has been found that the vaccine gives 65.2 percent more protection against the delta variant of Covid-19 and is 77.8 percent effective against corona overall. The company said on Saturday that it has completed the final analysis of Covaxin’s effectiveness from Phase III trials.

The company said that the vaccine is 93.4 percent effective on severe cases with symptoms of Covid-19, while evaluation of 130 cases found that the vaccine is 77.8 percent effective. Of this, 24 cases were included in the vaccine and 106 in the placebo group. It proved to be 63.6 percent effective on asymptomatic corona patients.

The report said that the vaccine is 67.8 percent effective on people above 60 years and 79.4 percent effective on people below 60 years. However, during the third phase of the trial, serious side effects were also seen in about 99 volunteers.
