Unnao rape case: BJP MLA convicted for life imprisonment ends assembly membership

New Delhi: Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the main culprit in the famous Unnao rape case of Uttar Pradesh, has ended the assembly membership. The UP Legislative Secretariat has stated this by issuing a notification. According to the notification, the membership of Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been withdrawn from the day he was sentenced.

It is known that on 20 December 2019, a Delhi court sentenced Sengar Sengar, who was expelled from BJP in the Unnao rape case, to life imprisonment in 2017 in the case of rape from a woman.

The court held Sengar guilty of the offense of sexual assault against a girl by a public servant under the Indian Penal Code (Bhadanson) under the Protection of Children from Rape and Sexual Offenses (Poxo) Act.

District Judge Dharmesh Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on Sanger in the case which he will have to deposit within a month.
