Opposition is provoking riots on CAA: Home Minister

Date:

Bhubaneswar: Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Odisha on a day-long visit on Friday. Meanwhile, Shah addressed a public meeting in the capital Bhubaneswar in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that there will be a BJP government in Odisha as well.

Shah also said during his speech that Congress should compare its 55-year rule and 5-year BJP rule. Shah also said that the people of the opposition are spreading misconceptions about CAA, inciting people, rioting. Shah once again assured the public that if anyone is confused that someone will lose citizenship from the CAA, they should understand that it is a law to grant citizenship and not citizenship.

He said, ‘People belonging to minority communities of neighboring countries are exploited there, they are harassed, they do not get citizenship if they come here. People who came to India to save themselves from persecution from those countries will be given citizenship through CAA. Shah alleged that Congress and opposition parties were spreading confusion about CAA.

He said that the promise made by leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel, the Modi government at the center is fulfilling that promise. He challenged the opposition parties to tell which section of the CAA is there to take citizenship. He said that the opposition is only creating confusion among the two communities by spreading confusion.
