Odisha extends lockdown till 30 April

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the corona virus crisis, the Odisha government has decided to extend the lockdown in the state by 30 April. This is the first state in the country to take such a decision. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also requested the central government not to start train and air services by April 30. Educational institutions in the state will remain closed till June 17. Earlier on 25 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown across the country. This deadline expires on 14 April.

Odisha was also the first state in the country to mandate masking. After this it has been implemented in other states and cities. By the way, no new cases of corona virus have been reported in the state since Tuesday. The state government on Wednesday declared more areas to be spread control zones to monitor the corona virus infection.

So far, 42 cases of corona virus have been reported in the state. Officials said that five areas have been sealed in Bhubaneswar, of which 7,992 are houses and these areas have been declared as proliferation control zones. According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), it monitored around 4,000 people to find out the condition of corona virus and blood samples of some suspected people were sent for examination.
