Maulana Saad’s quarantine period over, why has he not come forward yet?

New Delhi: The quarantine period of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, the head of Tabligi Jamaat, is over. Along with Maulana Mohammad Saad, the quarantine period of six people also ended on Monday. 56-year-old Maulana Saad has been in Quarantine since 28 March. On April 8, his lawyer said in court that after the quarantine was over, Maulana Saad would cooperate with the Delhi Police in the investigation related to the Corona virus. The Delhi Police had issued notice to seven people including Maulana Saad Kandhalvi and an FIR was registered against them for allegedly conducting religious program in violation of lockdown orders.

The biggest question at the moment is whether Maulan Saad will cooperate with the police investigation and will do so, why has he not come forward yet. People close to Maulana Saad claim that the sections recorded in the FIR are bailable. In such a situation, Saad will join the investigation on calling the crime branch. Sources in the Delhi Police said the jamatis are being identified through dump data of mobile numbers operating around Nizamuddin Markaz. Recently, he released a video on social media, advising people to stay quarantine at home.

Delhi Police had issued notice to seven people, including Tabligi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhalvi. 26 questions have been asked in the notice, including name, address, registration details of the organization, details of its office bearers, details of income tax returns filed by Markaz in the last three years, PAN number, bank account number and last one year bank statement available.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police wrote a letter to Saad and other accused on Wednesday and sought details under Section 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Authorities have also asked the organization to present a copy of the permission sought from the police or any other officials to hold a religious gathering on the premises.

A Delhi Police source claimed that Maulana Saad, the leader of the Tabligi Jamaat, has been traced. He was absconding since an FIR was lodged against him for organizing a religious program in Nizamuddin area last month. Police sources informed on April 8 that Maulana’s presence was found in Zakir Nagar in South East Delhi. However, Maulana’s lawyer Tausif Khan had earlier said that Maulana Saad is in quarentine and he will join the investigation after the 14-day period is over.
