Jammu: Due to lockdown 2, the date of advance registration for the Amarnath Yatra has been further extended. It has been extended till 4 May. Travel registration was to begin from April 1, but was postponed until April 15 due to the lockdown.
Travel preparations have been affected due to Corona. According to the predetermined schedule, the Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin on June 23. At the moment, preparations for this are nowhere to be seen. Preparations had to be interrupted due to Corona virus. In this, the process of registration of journey is made complete in the first phase, but till now this process has not started.
Before the yatra, snow removal is done from the traditional Baltal and Pahalgam tracks, but there are problems in view of the current situation. Presently, the administration and government are focused on the prevention of corona virus. According to board officials, if the lockdown draws, the journey registration process cannot be started. This registration has to be done through bank branches. At present, limited work is also being done in banks.
Currently, there is a nationwide lockdown due to Corona virus which will run till 3 May. Since the advance registration is with banks, it has been postponed. The process of applying for the langars ended on 25 February itself. 115 anchor organizations from across the country have applied to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. These Langar Yatras are set up at the base camps of Baltal, Pahalgam and Yatra routes.
