Yogi government approves ordinance to protect Corona Warriors

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday approved an ordinance to take strict action to protect the Corona Warriors from assault and abuse amid Corona virus crisis. The Uttar Pradesh Public Health and Epidemic Disease Control Ordinance 2020 passed the Cabinet in a cabinet meeting led by CM Yogi Adityanath.

Principal Secretary, Health Amit Mohan Prasad said that the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the State Public Health and Epidemic Control Ordinance, 2020, under which health workers, police personnel and sanitation workers are attacked or abused Strict action can be taken against him.

Under the new law, health workers, all para medical personnel, policemen and sanitation workers as well as any corona warrior deployed by the government will be punished from 6 months to 7 years. With this, fines ranging from fifty thousand to 5 lakh will also have to be paid.

Apart from this, action will also be taken under the same law for spitting or throwing dirt on doctors, sweepers, policemen or any other corona warriors. Even those who break the isolation will be subject to the same law. There is a provision for punishment of 2 years to 5 years for these offenses, while fines ranging from fifty thousand to 2 lakh will also have to be paid.
