Earlier, a Delhi court had reserved orders on petitions requesting the convicts to be given the death penalty again.

During the trial, the convict Mukesh Kumar Singh told the court that he does not want advocate Vrinda Grover to represent him. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana was also informed that Vinay Sharma, the other accused in the case, is on hunger strike in Tihar Jail.

The court is hearing the pleas of Nirbhaya’s parents and the Delhi government seeking a new date for the execution of the four accused in the murder.

The Supreme Court had given permission to the authorities to go to the lower court seeking a new date for the execution of these culprits. The four criminals of the Nirbhaya incident were sentenced to death.
