The joint military training exercise – Friendship 2019 between the Indian Army and the Royal Thailand Army (RTA) was started on 16 September 2019, which was completed on 29 September 2019 at the foreign training node, Umroi (Meghalaya). During the last 14 days, teams from both armies shared their expertise and experiences in dealing with terrorist activities and enhancing operational efficiency. The practice consists of providing joint training in various aspects of terrorist operations in city and forest environments.

The training was completed with 48 hours of outdoor drills, with teams from both armies conducting a siege and search operation in a mock village. The certification exercise was reviewed by Brigadier Anil Raman of the Indian Army in the presence of senior military officers from both countries participating in the exercise. Colonel Pana Cliuplodtuk represented the Royal Thailand Army.

In addition to training, on the last day of practice, the two sides took part in various other activities including football, volleyball matches and cultural events to strengthen the relationship between the two armies.
