Jyotiradiyta, Digvijay, Solanki wins Rajya Sabha election from Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Congress has suffered a setback in the Rajya Sabha elections. Polling for three vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh began at 9 am on Friday in the assembly premises. The BJP won two and the Congress won one seat.

Jyotiraditya Scindia was shocked to leave the Congress. There was a loss of one seat in Rajya Sabha. The BJP has fielded former Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sumer Singh Solanki, while former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and senior Dalit leader Phool Singh Baraiya were candidates from the Congress.

In the elections held on Friday for three Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, BJP got two seats and Congress got one. Jyotiraditya Scindia and Prof Sumer Singh Solanki of BJP were elected, while Digvijay Singh of Congress was re-elected to Rajya Sabha.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly has a total of 230 seats and due to the vacancy of 24 seats at present, the effective strength of the Legislative Assembly is 206. There are 107 BJP MLAs, 92 Congress, two BSP, one SP and four independent MLAs. In this situation any candidate needed 52 votes for election to Rajya Sabha.
