Hardik Patel appointed acting president of Gujarat Congress

Gandhinagar: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday approved the proposal to nominate Hardik Patel as acting president of the party’s Gujarat state unit. Patel has been appointed acting president of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect.

Amit Chavda is currently the head of the Congress state unit. The Patidar leader was arrested by the Ahmedabad police earlier this year in a three-year-old riot case.

According to the information from the sources, the leaders of the Congress Party believe that in view of the by-elections to be held after some time, the Congress Party has taken this important decision. The high command of the Congress party is confident that there will be a benefit in the by-elections to be held after the name of the young leader Hardik Patel.

According to the information available, the young leader Hardik Patel can be contested from Morbi seat. If this happens, there is a possibility of a strong contest between the BJP and the Congress candidate in this seat.

Let us know that before the elections held last month in four seats of Rajya Sabha in Gujarat, eight Congress MLAs had resigned from the membership of the Legislative Assembly. Due to this, elections are going to be held on these vacant seats.
