Why selective outrage by BJP on Arnab’s arrest: Congress

New Delhi: The Congress expressed surprise over the resentment of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the arrest of the editor of a TV channel, terming it a regrettable situation and said that the law should continue to function. The Congress accused the BJP of expressing selective displeasure. The party said that when independent journalists are persecuted, why does BJP remain silent.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet said in response to a question asked in this regard at a press conference here on Wednesday that why the BJP which is expressing outrage over the arrest of a TV channel editor has kept silence on the attack on journalists in other parts of the country. Why did she not stand with the victimized journalists. In such a situation why no words come out of his mouth.

She said that she understands journalism and the arrested TV editor who is doing journalism is shameful and working to run BJP’s agenda through journalism. The spokesman said that these editors have made a mockery of journalism. It is a sad situation that some people in their studios sit and make false allegations and impose an agenda.

Supriya Srinet said, “I am shocked by such selective displeasure of the government and BJP, it is unfair. They have insulted journalism while working on behalf of BJP, they are abusing and accusing people.” They are judges or juries, what kind of journalism are they doing? “

He cited the example of Prashant Kanaujia and Supriya Sharma, saying, “When independent journalists are persecuted, why does the BJP remain silent.” Both these journalists had been booked by the Uttar Pradesh government for tweeting and reporting. Congress said that if someone is innocent then no action will be taken. The law will work in its own way.
