Appeasement politics hurting Bengal’s tradition: Amit Shah

Kolkata: Taking a swipe at the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government in Bengal for allegedly indulging in appeasement politics, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that “appeasement politics is hurting the state’s tradition” and gave a 23-point guideline to BJP karyakartas to win the heart of people and secure at least 200 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections.

Mr Shah, wrapping up his two-day hurricane tour of West Bengal by addressing the BJP karyakartas and party-in-charges at EZCC auditorium where media was banned, spelt out the 23-point guidelines, including following the directives of the central leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP’s think-tank insisted that since the party has made huge inroads during the 2019 Parliament poll winning 18 out of total 42 seats in West Bengal, it now can conservatively target at least 200 out of the 294-seat Assembly next year.

BJP had targeted 21 seats for 2019 Parliament poll, but finally won 18 seats with minimum margin loss in some 3/4 seats.

Former Tripura and Meghalaya governor Tathagata Roy, who began his new political innings with the saffron brigade, told reporters that the party can go for winning 200 seats in the Assembly poll following its success in 2019 LS elections.

BJP leader Anupam Hazra said ” If we follow Amit Shah ji’s 23-point guidelines, then we will definitely bring political change in the state next year. ” ” We want to put the people of West Bengal into a safe side and ensure a secure future for them or else Bangla will become Bangladesh,” said BJP’s national secretary Sayantan Basu.
