Miscreants who planted flag at Red Fort associated with BJP: AAP

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday alleged that the miscreants, who planted a ‘religious flag’ at the ramparts of historic Red Fort on the Republic Day, were associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Just before the proposed tractor parade, Punjab actor Deep Sidhu and his associates barged into Delhi from the borders and found their way to Red Fort, where they hoisted the flag,” AAP Spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged in a presser.

‘Sidhu is associated with Sunny Deol, who is a BJP MP from Punjab and also has a picture with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,’ added the AAP MLA.

He said the photograph of Deep Sidhu with Mr Shah and Mr Modi has been shared by BJP, which ‘itself says a lot’.

Training his guns on Delhi Police, which comes under the Union Home Ministry, Mr Bhardwaj questioned how Sidhu and others managed to reach Red Fort, despite heavy police deployment.

He alleged that violence has given an opportunity to the ruling BJP to taint the protesting farmers.

‘They have been named anti-nationals, Khalistanis, Congressmen, AAP supporters. The government just wants to spread a false narrative,’ he further alleged.

The AAP MLA also questioned the suspension of internet by the Home Ministry at the Delhi border areas. ‘They [BJP] do not want the truth to reach the masses,’ he said.
