New Delhi: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that Shiv Sena and BJP are not enemies. He has also not ruled out the possibility of an alliance with Shiv Sena. Asked by reporters whether there was a possibility of the two former aides coming together, Fadnavis said an appropriate decision would be taken in view of the situation.
When BJP leader Fadnavis was asked by reporters about his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the possibility of rapprochement with Shiv Sena, he said, “We (Shiv Sena and BJP) were never enemies. They were our friends and the people they fought against, they formed the government with them and they left us. There are no ifs and buts in politics. There may be some differences with Shiv Sena but we are not enemies. Decisions are taken as per the prevailing circumstances.
Fadnavis’s statement comes in the backdrop of the meeting of Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently. Thackeray had separately met the prime minister during his visit to Delhi last month.
