Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has cleared the air over her joining hands with the opposition. Mamata said on Thursday that she and her counterparts in neighbouring Bihar and Jharkhand would join the opposition parties to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. At a function, she said the BJP would face a rout due to its arrogance and people’s anger against its policies, the West Bengal chief minister said.
She said, “Nitish Kumar, Hemant Soren, other political parties and I will come together in 2024 to defeat the BJP. All of us will be on one side and the BJP on the other. The BJP’s arrogance of 300 seats will be its nemesis. There will be khela hobe in 2024,” she said. The Trinamool Congress defeated the BJP in the assembly elections last year. Banerjee claimed that the arrest of legislators with huge cash by Kolkata police had stopped the horse trading in Jharkhand and the fall of the Hemant Soren government. She also tore into some media houses and the central probe agencies for targeting her party leaders.
