Adithyapuram in Palakkad district of Kerala state is over 500 years old settlement of Tamil Iyer Brahmins. The Kaliya Mardhana Sri Gopalakrishnaswamy Temple is said to be over 700 years old ancient temple of Sri Krishna in the village of Adithyapuram in Pallipuram, near Melamuri Junction that is bordering Mepparamba in Palakkad, Kerala. The temple is also said to have various paintings that show the mythological stories of Sri Krishna’s childhood days and the different avatars of Lord Vishnu. The Adithyapuram Chariot festival, which is also called a car festival is organized in the village for 10 days usually with special programs for the devotees. This is usually held after the Kumbhabhishekam programs that are spread across 3 days every year.
