Court denies interim relief to Gehana Vasisth

On Tuesday, the Mumbai sessions court declined to grant actor Gehana Vasisth temporary protection from arrest in connection with a pornographic film racket case, and the case was adjourned till Friday. Gehana had submitted a pre-arrest bail petition last week because he was afraid of being arrested by the cops.

The actress, who is presently out on bail in connection with the porn controversy involving Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, sought a pre-arrest anticipatory bail on Tuesday afternoon at the Dindoshi court.

Gehana had submitted to the court requesting anticipatory bail in her prayer before the sessions court, asking protection from arrest in connection with the second FIR lodged against her at the Malwani police station. The criminal branch eventually detained businessman Raj Kundra in the initial FIR in which she was arrested.

Vasisth notified the court through her lawyer that she had been detained in a similar case and that the crime branch had already taken her laptop and phone. Her lawyer also stated that she did not require police detention because she had previously been arrested in a similar instance. The court adjourned the matter without granting any relief to Gehana and deferred the matter to Friday.

Meanwhile, Gehana defended Raj and questioned his detention, stating, “His arrest was illegitimate because the police held him in prison for 7-8 days and took his phone, laptop, CDs, and bank account information in the meanwhile. If they want to look into it, they already have ample evidence. I don’t see why they need to keep him in jail. For months, the charge sheet has been submitted “
