Hathras Horror: Yogi Govt told the Supreme Court, why had to do the last rites in the darkness of night

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has told the Supreme Court that the funeral of the victim of Hathras had to be done at night in view of the possibility of violence. Intelligence report was cited by the UP government and it was told that such a report was received, there could be large-scale violence in the morning itself.

In the affidavit given to the Supreme Court, the UP government also referred to the decision in the Babri case the next day and said that due to this, there was a high alert in the whole state. The UP government has also said that efforts are being made to derail the investigation in the alleged gang rape case.

It was said by the UP government, ‘The way the dharna protests were being conducted in Safdarjung Hospital and the entire matter was being given caste / communal color, since then the district administration of Hathras has received many intelligence alerts since the morning of 29 September were meeting.

The UP government has also mentioned in its affidavit that the family was prepared for the funeral. This affidavit has been filed by the Uttar Pradesh government in the court saying that instructions should be given for a CBI inquiry into the case. The affidavit also states that the court should supervise the CBI investigation.
