Misogynist dialogues in Bollywood movies really need to go

Instagram handle of Mumbai police shared how a movie called Kabir Singh had dialogues that are too misogynist by nature. Like asking your girlfriend to wear her dupatta properly so that other men present shouldn’t notice her or look at the way she has dressed. Same way calling your girlfriend “my bandi” is such a rude way for a man to address a woman. The police handle also took a dig at Salman Khan starrer Dabangg in which actress Sonakshi Sinha’s character Rajjo gets threatened for a slap for not accepting the fees for the sales of a matka.

Although movies teach a lot of good human values of respecting parents, loving your partner, doing social work but at times, certain dialogues do more damage than good to society. No way, any movie should further have such messages or characters that show the patriarchal and regressive mindset of the society where women are always the second fiddle for men. Although the country is advancing and developing on the lines of Atmanirbharta Bharat and Digital India, some old values and thought patterns should be removed from society for everyone’s good.

Male chauvinism and male domination of the females should take a backseat so that the children and youngsters who are the major viewers of the Bollywood cinema learn some good ways of respecting women in society. To threaten or blackmail someone emotionally is not a good sign and should not be a way of expressing any sort of love or affection. If love is self-destruction or harming the one you love, then such a relationship turns out to be toxic and should not be further encouraged for the mental wellness of everyone concerned.
