Modi government wants the income of all farmers to be like Bihar, not Punjab: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Launching a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over farmer’s income, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that nation’s farmer wants income at par with Punjab counterpart, but Prime Minister Modi wants to keep their income as low as that of peasants of Bihar.

Mr Gandhi said, ‘Farmer wants that his income becomes like the farmers of Punjab. Modi government wants that every farmer’s income in the country to be like what Bihar farmers earns.’

Along with his tweet, the Congress leader also shared some data which said that the maximum average annual income is of Punjab’s farmer, while, lowest is of their Bihar counterpart.

The data said that average annual income of a farmer in Punjab is Rs 2,16,708, while in Bihar it is the lowest at Rs 42, 684.

Haryana farmer on the other hand earns an average annual income of Rs 1,73,208 and at number three is the farmer from Jammu and Kashmir with an annual average income of Rs 1,52,196.

Farmer from Kerala is at number four followed by Karnataka.

The lowest income is of Bihar’s farmers and then comes their Bengal counterpart.
