No plan to enter into contract farming business: Reliance

New Delhi: Recently in Punjab and Haryana, there were reports of protesters damaging and vandalizing Reliance Jio’s towers. Reliance has now moved the High Court in the case of towers. The company has approached the High Court seeking government intervention to protect its property and facilities. Reliance Industries said that it neither purchases foodgrains directly from farmers nor is it in the contract farming business.

Many farmers in these two states had allegedly vented their anger against the agricultural law at Reliance Jio’s towers. The protesting farmers had switched off the power of the towers and damaged the infrastructure of the Jio tower with cable cutting. The protesting farmers are opposing Reliance Industries as the beneficiary of the new agricultural laws. Farmers who have been protesting against the agricultural law for more than a month fear that this law will be harmful for them in the long term.

Reliance Industries issued a statement saying that its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to completely ban the illegal activities of vandalism (along with towers) by anti-social elements. Has demanded immediate intervention.

The company said, “The three agricultural laws that are currently being debated in the country have nothing to do with them (the company). The company also said that it should not get any benefit from these laws. It has been. To associate the name of Reliance with these three laws is only and only an attempt to harm our business and discredit us. ”

The company said that it does not do corporate or contract farming.
