Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday breached 50K level for the first time at 50,096.57, advancing 304 pts in opening trade on the strength of global cues.
The Nifty too rose by 64.55 pts to 14,709.25.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 50,126.73 and 49,964.00 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 14,738.30 and 14,695.25 respectively.
In 30 scrips 23 advanced, 6 declined and one unchanged.
The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 3.80 pc to Rs 9277.90, Bajaj finance by 3.03 pc to Rs 5132, Reliance Industries by 2.33 pc to Rs 2102.75, Bajaj Auto by 1.72 pc to Rs 3700 and Axis Bank by 1.65 pc to Rs 686.40.
The losers were TCS by 0.84 pc to Rs 3280, HDFC by 0.73 pc to Rs 2669.05, HDFC Bank by 0.51 pc to Rs 1483.35 and Bharti Airtel by 0.39 pc to Rs 593.90.
