New Delhi: A protester has reportedly died near Delhi’s ITO at the farmers’ Republic Day tractor rally on Tuesday, 26 January. Protesting farmers claimed that the farmer was killed after being shot at by the Delhi Police.

The incident took place near the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg where a toppled tractor was also seen. It is being reported that the farmer was on the tractor that met with an accident.

Police near ITO fired tear gas shells and lathi-charged the protesting farmers. At the same time, farmers have also broken into a police car. Earlier, the farmer reached Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. Police used tear gas to disperse the farmers here. At the same time, police have fired tear gas shells at farmers on the Ghazipur border as well.

Actually, on ITO, the police lathi-charged the farmers, then the farmers threw stones at the police. At the same time, Navneet, a tractor driver from UP, died on the spot after the tractor overturned. Earlier, the farmers who came out of Ghazipur border were stopped at Noida turn by the police and released tear gas shells. Farmers also threw stones at the police and vandalized the vehicles. The police claim that the farmers tried to put a tractor on the Pandav Nagar police picket. The police also said that the Nihangs tried to attack the policemen with a sword.
