New Delhi: Actor Deep Sidhu, who was wanted in connection with the Red Fort incident on Republic Day, has been arrested by the Delhi Police, officials said on Tuesday.

The arrest has been made by a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell, said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

The police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to Sidhu’s arrest.

On January 26, thousands of protesting farmers who reached ITO from the Ghazipur border clashed with police. Many of them driving tractors reached the Red Fort and entered the monument. A religious flag was also hoisted.

Most of them reached the Red Fort by tractor and reached inside the memorial and hoisted a religious flag there. In this case, it is being said that Deep Sidhu did the work of inciting and provoking the protesters. According to the police, Sidhu is the mastermind of the entire case.

Apart from Deep Sidhu, Jugrag Singh, Gurjot Singh and Gurjant Singh also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh each. Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Police made other arrests in the 26 January violence case. Police arrested Sukhdev Singh from Chandigarh. Till now Delhi Police has arrested 127 people in this case. On January 26, around 400 policemen were injured in the violence. While one protester died due to tractor overturning.
