Tapovan (Uttarakhand): Security forces have made a big hole in Uttarakhand to reach the people trapped in the tapovan tunnel filled with silt and debris. More than 30 people are feared trapped in this tunnel. Officials said that work is being done to enlarge and widen this hole on Saturday so that people can be trapped inside the tunnel by putting cameras.
Today Chamoli DM Swati Bhadoria told that the hole has been made with 136 meters long and 75 mm diameter. RP Ahirwal, general manager of Powal National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) said in a statement, “It is a good sign that there is no water and mud pressure in the tunnel.” But due to the presence of silt, the camera could not be sent inside. The work of enlarging and widening the hole is being done. Its diameter should be 250–300 millimeters. ”
So far, 38 people have died in this disaster in the state and 204 people are missing. The Tapovan tunnel is still expected to strand 25 to 35 people. On February 7, the 13.2 MW Rishiganga hydropower project was completely destroyed by the sudden flood in the Rishiganga and Dhauliganga rivers due to millions of metric tons of snow falling from the mountain in the Rishiganga Valley, while the 520 MW Tapovan-Vishnugad project was severely damaged and damaged. People working in the tunnel got stuck there.
