Geeta got her real mother

Karachi: Geeta, a deaf and dumb girl who came to India from Pakistan six years ago, has finally found her real mother in India. Geeta was brought to India in 2015 on the initiative of the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Gita, an Indian girl who accidentally went to Pakistan, was supported by a social welfare organization there and sent to India in 2015. She is finally reunited with her real mother in Maharashtra.

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported that Bilkis Edhi, wife of the late Abdul Sattar Edhi, former head of the world-famous Edhi Welfare Trust, said that an Indian deaf girl named Geeta has been reunited with her real mother in Maharashtra.

Bilkis Edhi told, “She (Geeta) was in touch with me and this weekend she gave me good news to meet her real mother.” She told that “Her (Geeta) real name is Radha Waghmare and she found her real mother in Naigaon, Maharashtra state.”

According to Bilkis, she met Geeta from a railway station and at that time she must have been 11–12 years old. They kept it in their center of Karachi. Bilkis said, “she had come to Pakistan in some way and when we met her in Karachi she was destitute.”

Bilkis told that she had named her Fatima but when she came to know that she is a Hindu, she was named Geeta. Although she cannot hear and speak.

In 2015, the former External Affairs Minister of India, the late Sushma Swaraj, arranged for the girl to be brought to India. Bilkis said that it took about four and a half years for Geeta to find her real parents and this has been confirmed through DNA testing. She told that Geeta’s real father has died a few years ago and his mother Meena has remarried.
