New Delhi: In an encounter with Naxalites on Saturday in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, 5 security personnel have died, while many have been injured.
A senior Chhattisgarh official said that several Naxalites have also been killed in this encounter. “As per the preliminary information, five jawans were killed and a few others were injured in the gunfight,” Awasthi said, adding that further details are awaited.
According to reports, the encounter started when the CRPF’s Cobra Commando Team, District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force team were conducting operations against the Maoists in the area. This encounter took place in Tarem area of Bijapur district of Bastar range.
