Srinagar: Two militants of al-Badr were killed by security forces in an encounter during a search and siege operation on the outskirts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar said that two militants were reported to be hiding in Khanmoh on the outskirts of the city by the police. After confirmation of this information, personnel of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) started a joint siege and search operation in the early hours of today.
Mr. Kumar informed that all roads and exit points going out of the area have been closed. During the operation this morning, as security forces were moving towards a particular area, the terrorists hiding there started firing with automatic weapons, in response to which the security acted and the encounter started.
Both militants were killed in retaliation by security forces. Both terrorists were linked to the al-Badr terrorist group. He said the operation was called off after the bodies of both the militants were found.
Director General of Police (DGP) said that we have received information about the killing of both the terrorists. He congratulated the security forces for successfully carrying out the operation for this.
