New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that the lockdown is being extended for 15 days in the state. Maharashtra will now have a lockdown till June 15. He said that this time some exemptions and restrictions will be applicable depending on the cases of the districts. The Maharashtra government has issued guidelines in view of extending the lockdown in the state till 15 June. All essential shops that are currently allowed to operate between 7 am and 11 am may now be allowed to operate between 7 am and 2 pm.

Chief Minister Thackeray said, “Despite the reduction in daily cases of infection with the corona virus, Maharashtra is experiencing as many cases as were at the peak of the first wave. Corona virus cases are increasing in some districts of Maharashtra. The oxygen production capacity in Maharashtra was 12,500 MT which was increased to 13,000 MT but the daily requirement reached 17,000 MT. Can’t say when the third wave of corona virus will come, we can’t reduce our vigilance.

He said that this year there is a difference in the type of Covid-19 virus as compared to last year. It is now more contagious, spreading faster and patients are taking longer to recover. We have another monster fungus in front of us to combat. There are 3000 cases of mucoramycosis in the state. The Corona virus task force is monitoring this.
