Lucknow: Former Union minister and Congress leader Jitin Prasada, who was once considered very close to Rahul Gandhi, has joined the BJP. Prior to this ‘potential change’, Jitin has a meeting with Union Minister Piyush Goyal. In the year 2019, Jitin had denied the rumors that he was leaving the Congress.

After the inclusion of Jitin Prasad in the BJP, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the role of Jitin Prasad is going to be important in the politics of UP. At the same time, Jitin Prasad said that I experienced in 7-8 years that there is an institutional political party in real sense, it is the Bharatiya Janata Party, the rest of the parties have become individuals and regions.

Jitin Prasad said that if there is any suitable party to deal with the challenges and situations that the country is facing these days, it is BJP and if there is any suitable leader then it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am not serving the public in Congress. I was able to do it, I hope that through BJP I will be able to serve the people.

Jitin’s displeasure with the Congress for 20 years is not hidden from anyone. He was part of the “G-23” or group of 23 Congress leaders who wrote to Sonia Gandhi citing the need for comprehensive reforms in the party. In this letter, he raised the voice of full-time leadership in the party. By the way, even after this letter, Jitin was among those leaders who were given any role in the party despite expressing ‘dissatisfaction’. He was associated with the Congress’s campaign in West Bengal, but the Congress’s performance in these elections was extremely disappointing. Jitin had publicly criticized his party’s alliance with the Indian Secular Front in the Bengal elections.

Jitin had tweeted, ‘Alliance decisions are taken keeping in mind the interests of the party and workers. Now is the time for all to join hands and work towards strengthening the prospects of the Congress in the poll-bound states. Jitin Prasad, a former MP from Dhaurahara seat of UP, has been one of the prominent leaders of the Congress in the state. Jitin’s father Jitendra Prasad had also challenged Sonia Gandhi’s leadership in the party in the year 1999 and contested the party president’s election against her.
