New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has clarified the stand of the Modi government regarding the new agricultural laws. Tomar has said that he is ready to talk to any farmer organization and anytime on the provisions related to the new agricultural laws. He said, ‘There is no shortage, the Government of India is ready to talk to the farmer. If any farmer union is ready to talk at midnight on the provision related to the Act except repeal, then Narendra Singh Tomar will welcome them.
Farmers’ unions are adamant on the demand for repeal of all three agricultural laws, while the government says it is ready to make amendments as needed. The central government has indicated many times that farmers’ organizations should talk on legal points other than just repealing these laws, then only the matter can move forward.

NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand has said farmers should give “some indications” about clearly pointing out the loopholes instead of demanding abrogation of agricultural laws to resume talks with the government. Significantly, on April 29, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh leader Rakesh Tikait had said that whenever the government wants, farmers’ organizations are ready to discuss the three controversial agricultural laws with the Center. But he insisted that the discussion should be about repeal of the law.
