Skyrocketing inflation broke the back of common people: Sonia

New Delhi: Expressing deep concern over the continuing increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said that the skyrocketing prices of edible oil, pulses and other essential commodities have broken the back of the common people.

Addressing a meeting of general secretaries and secretaries in charge of Congress here on Thursday, Mrs Gandhi said that the prices of essential commodities are touching the sky. The prices of petrol and diesel have gone up due to which the prices of edible oil, pulses and essential commodities are beyond the reach of common people.

Referring to the second wave of Corona, he said that this epidemic wreaked havoc on innumerable families and it shook the entire country. Lakhs of people have lost their lives in the pandemic and innumerable families have lost their loved ones to this havoc.

The Congress President said that now the third wave of Corona is being feared. In this, the unfortunate situation like in the second wave does not happen again, so necessary steps need to be taken. She said that the Congress has prepared a white paper to highlight the shortcomings of the government so far in the fight against Corona. She expressed hope that the government would take all these suggestions into consideration and the impact of the possible third wave would be minimized.
