Suspense over: T20 World Cup to be held in UAE

New Delhi: The ongoing suspense at the venue of the T20 World Cup has ended today. BCCI has decided to organize T20 World Cup in UAE instead of India. BCCI secretary Jay Shah told that he is going to inform the ICC about this soon. However, no decision has been taken regarding the dates yet.

The ICC earlier this month gave the BCCI four weeks to decide and inform it whether India can host the event in view of the COVID-19 situation.

The matches of the second leg of IPL-14 are to be held in UAE from 19 September to 15 October. It is believed that after the end of the IPL, the T20 World Cup will be organized from October 17. By the way, the final decision regarding the schedule of T20 World Cup is to be taken by the ICC.

According to the report, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai will host the matches of the T20 World Cup in the UAE. At the same time, the matches of Round 1 will be conducted in Oman.

Round 1 will see 12 matches between eight teams, out of which four (the top two from each group) will qualify for the Super-12. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea will play in this round. Out of which four teams will join the top eight ranked T20 International teams and reach the Super 12.

At the same time, there will be a total of 30 matches in Super-12, which will start from October 24. Here 12 teams will be divided into two groups. Their matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. After this two semi-finals and final matches will be played.
