New Delhi: Congress leader and former Union Minister Manish Tewari has told the need of fighting unitedly by forgetting all differences with all the party people in the assembly elections to be held in Punjab next year. Manish Tewari also expressed his views on the issue of discord in the party’s Congress unit in Punjab, though he refrained from speaking directly on the issue related to party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. Tiwari said, ‘I have been in Congress for forty years. I believe that no one else defeats Congress, Congress defeats itself. In the conversation, Punjab’s Congress leader Manish Tewari directly supported the state’s CM Captain Amarinder Singh.
He said that the situation in Punjab Congress is fine, there is power problem in the state, power plants have faced problems due to which people are getting inconvenienced but it is hoped that the power problem will get better. Tiwari alleged that BJP did not treat us well, closed our rural development fund. He said that farmers have started a big movement at this time, they are sitting on the streets. They are fighting for their rights but the government is silent.
During the conversation, Manish Tewari admitted that there are definitely some problems on the ground, which are being tried to deal with. A three-member committee has been formed to resolve mutual differences. The committee has to know the opinion of all the people. Referring to the assembly elections to be held in the state next year, he said, “Congressmen will have to gear up. Secularism has to be maintained. On whether Navjot would like to give any advice to Sidhu, Tiwari said, ‘I do not give advice unsolicited, the advice that is not sought has no importance.’
