LUCKNOW: At least 20 people, including several children, were killed when lightning struck them in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Mirzapur districts on Sunday.

According to police sources, 32-year-old Geeta Devi and her 55-year-old mother-in-law Malti Devi died while planting paddy due to lightning at Rahispur Malak Bela village in Soraon area of ​​Prayagraj district. Apart from this, 58-year-old Ram Murat Mishra (58) in Koraon Mahuli village, 15-year-old Ramraj, who went to graze goats in Bhagesar village, besides 11-year-old Pushpendra Kumar died due to lightning. He said that 17-year-old Ranjana, a resident of Sarai Dadan village in Nawabganj, 18-year-old Aarti Saroj, a resident of Sultanpur, died due to lightning, while 18-year-old Kumar Bind, a resident of Kewtan Basti in Rera village of Jasra area, Vimlesh died.

He told that similarly 55-year-old Tribhuvan Nath Patel, resident of Rokdi village of Karchana, 56-year-old Kamta Prasad Singh, resident of Kariya Kala in Shankargarh area, 18-year-old Harishchandra, resident of Kevatan Purva in Bara area, 20-year-old Sangeeta Patel, resident of Godwa Kamalpur village in Holagarh area. Apart from this, 61-year-old Kamala Devi, resident of Naugira village in Mauaima and 58-year-old Krishnanand in Kaundhiyara also died due to lightning.
