Vande Bharat to Get Swanky New Upgrades

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s announcement on Independence Day that 75 “Vande Bharat” trains would connect various parts of the country, Indian Railways decided on Saturday to add new features, including four emergency windows for easy evacuation of passengers in the event of a trained emergency.

A centralized coach monitoring system for temperature control and to monitor all electrical and critical systems aboard has also been implemented, according to a statement released by Northern Railways on Friday. In addition, each coach will feature four emergency lights that may be utilized in a catastrophic event if the regular lights fail during that period.

The number of emergency buttons will also be raised from two to four. Better flood protection of underframe equipment, specifically designed to assure safety during monsoons, will suffice, according to the statement. On Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi stated that 75 Vande Bharat trains would connect different country regions in 75 weeks to commemorate the nation’s Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The new trains will also have fire survival cables installed in the interior circuits, and the air purification system has been reworked to include three hours of ventilation in the event of a power outage to the roof-mounted air conditioning package unit in the new train sets, resulting in a more reliable and bacteria-free air conditioning system. These new trains will also be outfitted with better flood-protection underframe technology to ensure dependability in the event of severe rain.

  • A GPS-based passenger information system
  • CCTV cameras
  • Automated sliding doors with retractable coach footsteps
  • Zero discharge vacuum-based bio-toilets
