The Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM)/Barak-8 weapons system will be inducted by the Indian Air Force in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The induction ceremony will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who left for Barmer earlier today on a day-long visit to the western state. Along with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Singh will officially open the Emergency Landing Facility on the Satta-Gandhav segment of NH 925A.

“Leaving New Delhi for Barmer on a day-long visit to Rajasthan,” the Union defence minister tweeted earlier today. Along with Shri @nitin gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, will launch the Emergency Landing Facility on NH-925A near Barmer. I’ll also be in Jaisalmer for the MRSAM induction ceremony.”

The MRSAM missile system, developed jointly by India and Israel, is intended to provide India’s air defence and combat capabilities a substantial boost. Earlier this year, the two nations successfully conducted tests at a site in India, demonstrating the upgraded medium-range missile with sophisticated phased-array radar and interceptors with enhanced RF seekers.

The Emergency Landing Facility (ELF), on the other hand, is a section of a national highway that will be utilised for the first time for emergency landings by Indian Air Force planes. The National Authority for Highways of India (NHAI) established the Indian Air Force Emergency Landing Facial for Satta-Gandhav, according to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, three kilometres long NH-925A of km 41/430 to km 44/430 as an emergency lander for the Indian Air Force.

The freshly builded two-lane paved shoulder of Bharatmala Pariyojana, which has a total length of 196.97 km and a cost of 765.52, is components of the Gagariya-Bakhasar and Satta-Gandhav divisions. Rajnath Singh complimented the ‘splendid accomplishment’ and said that the NHAI is building emergency landing sites for 20 as well as helipads in many more regions, addressing during the opening event.
